Description
The Castleton is a memorial in blue speckled granite with an ogee shaped top. An ogee is the double curve, concave above and convex below, that gives the headstone its soft shouldered profile.
The speckled granite is what distinguishes it. Rather than a single flat colour, the stone carries flecks and variation throughout, so it catches the light differently as you move around it and looks less severe than a plain black or grey.
Every block is slightly different, so a speckled memorial is never quite identical to another.
All of our workmanship complies with the National Association of Memorial Masons Code of Practice. Materials are selected from all over the world, and we will advise you on which are suitable for a particular design and for the churchyard or cemetery where the memorial will stand.
Almost any design can be produced in almost any material. If you have seen a memorial you like and have a photograph or a sketch of it, show it to us and we will work from that. We also carry out maintenance and renovation, and have long experience of restoring older memorials.
